In John’s Gospel, there is no familiar story of the Last Supper. However, the sixth chapter, which is Jesus’ exposition on the bread of life, begins with the feeding of the five thousand from only five barley loaves. This is a meal that reconnects people to each other and to God, that offers relationship in a disconnected world, but it also reminds us of the sacrifice of Communion. Come to the table each week to be in right relationship with one another again. Come to Communion to meet God. And come to the altar to offer yourself to Him.
