Altar Guild Ministry

Working under the direction of the rector, the Altar Guild is the quiet, "behind the scenes" ministry performed weekly or anytime there is any Liturgical service. Weekly duties include working with other Guild members to prepare the Altar for Eucharist and cleaning the vessels and linens after Sunday services.

Several times a year, our duties also include workdays to prepare for liturgical Holy Seasons. Spiritual growth is often an added blessing of working as an active member of the Altar Guild. Performing these duties in a prayerful, committed manner often leads to a greater growth in grace and a deeper understanding of God's real presence in our lives.

Presently, 28 women serve on St. Peter's Episcopal Church Altar Guild. There are four teams, designated as Team A1, Team B2, Team C3, and Team D4. Led by a team captain, teams work sequentially according to the calendar - For example: Team A1 has first Saturday duties, Team B2, second Saturday, etc. During Saturday duties, the team organizes, cleans, and prepares the Nave and Altar for Sunday worship.
