Eucharistic Ministers

As a Eucharistic Minister - Wine we are assisting, as directed by the priest, by giving the wine to those receiving communion. There is a sense of prayer as we say the words, “The cup of salvation, the blood of Christ” and offer the chalice. It is a very personal prayer.

As a Eucharistic Minister - Bread we are assisting, as directed by the priest, by giving the bread to those receiving communion. There is a sense of prayer as we say the words, “The bread of Christ, the blood of Christ” and offer the bread. It is a very personal prayer. We may be asked to take the elements to others who cannot come to the rail on Sundays. Especially those who may be home bound or in the hospital

We use 8 Eucharistic Minister - Wine and 2 Eucharist Ministers - Bread, if there is no additional priest or deacon, each week. That makes 32 to 40 servants each month plus special services. We currently have 40 volunteers and we need more.

The Diocese licenses Eucharistic Minister - Wine. The requirements are that you be a confirmed adult at least 18 and a member of St. Peter’s. Our Priest must also approve of each volunteer. There is some training involved that takes about 60 minutes. A Eucharist Minister - Bread has some additional training and duties.

If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister or have any questions please contact Tony Hewitt at c-t.hewitt@comcast.net.
