LAY READERS

Our Anglican worship is divided into two parts: the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Table. These divisions speak to the way that our Lord comes to us in the Eucharist service. Since the Word is such an important element, it is therefore important that we give due diligence and care in proclaiming God's Word to His people. We want to reflect God's glory and excellent care through our reading.

The Lay Reader Ministry is truly a ministry of the people of St. Peter's To participate you must be a confirmed communicant in good standing, at least a Junior in high school, and have a love of joy in sharing the Word with your fellow parishioners.

Certification is not required in order to be a Lay Reader. We do not vest for any of the services. We represent the congregation--the laity. Reading requires clarity and feeling---not acting! It is a communion shared verbally.

One reader will read the Old and New Testament Readings, the Psalms, and the Prayers of the People. The Parish will be asked to add their own petitions at the proper time during the Prayers of the People. There are two Sunday services - 8:00 - Rite I, 10:30 - Rite II.
