Community Lifeline Center

CLC LogoCommunity Lifeline Center’s goal is to help neighbors return to self-sufficiency when a crisis strikes.  The staff and volunteers offer short-term assistance with finances, job skills training, budgeting, and sharing whatever goods they have that a family needs.  These might be school supplies, a box fan or a window air conditioner, light bulbs, or personal items.

To see what CLC’s Monthly Project Lists are all about, go to the CLC website, www.communitylifeline.org; click on ‘Get Involved.’  Among other projects, you’ll find ‘3 Meals-in-a-Bag’ – just look for the grocery bag.  You’ll notice other needs listed and suggested ways to help.   Go ahead; take a look.  You might find a need that speaks to your heart.

St. Peter's and Community Lifeline Center

Easter Meals:  St. Peter's and CLC have been working together since 1999 to provide Easter Meals to those in need in McKinney and the surrounding communities.  Each year, St. Peter's provides a basket, canned hams, canned vegetables and canned fruit for each family who has signed up to receive an Easter Meal.  Then, parishioners adopt the families and provide the rest of the food for an Easter Meal, along with some Easter goodies.  Each basket is delivered to family on the Saturday before Easter Sunday.  We will be hosting an Empty Bowls event next February to raise money for this ministry.

Undie Sunday - On Sunday, November 6, St. Peter's will be collecting underwear to be given to Burks Elementary and Community Lifeline Center!  So, remember to bring your underwear to church that Sunday!  Any size or shape will be accepted and given to someone in need.  Consider sizes appropriate for kindergarten age kids for Burks.

Christmas:  St. Peter's has supported CLC for many years with an Angel Tree or, more recently, with a Christmas stocking drive.  This year, the Volunteer McKinney Center, 3e McKinney, CLC & the Salvation Army are combining to form the 2011 McKinney Holiday Coalition to provide Christmas gifts to families in McKinney.  St. Peter's will work with Community Lifeline Center to provide Christmas clothing and gifts to family members who are working with CLC to survive a crisis.
