Outreach Committee
 

The purpose of the St. Peter's Outreach Ministry is to respond to God's call to extend His love to those in the community beyond our church family, by working to understand the needs and problems around McKinney and in the world by connecting those needs to the time, talents and energies of the St. Peter's church family.

The ministry coordinate with the ECW, Youth and Children's projects plus adding many extra programs.

2010/11 Year are:

  • Supporting individual members and youth who are participating in Mission Trips.

  • Mite Box project during Lent which purchased 18 villages with water purification systems to provide clean drinking water to the people of Haiti.

  • Peanut Butter Collection for the Food Pantry in June and December
    The goal is usually to collect 900 jars of peanut during both months.

  • Partnering with the McKinney 3E program to adept Burks Elementary School beginning in September 2010.

  • The sale of crafts and jewelry for the work of the African Team Ministries

  • Participating in the Believe Walk in December supporting Holy Family School

Special ECW projects working through Community Life Line and coordinated by Jamie St. Clair at jamie@hlohopper.net

  • "Undie Sunday" - Ingathering of under garments to elderly and homeless in McKinney.

  • Easter Baskets filling for 75 families for an Easter Dinner.

  • Christmas Joy Stockings. Special surprise stockings for many people.

Previous projects include: Holy Family School, Habitat for Humanity, and an Annual Garage Sale.

This committee meets the 2nd Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
