St.
Peter's will be hosting the Alpha Program beginning in September,
2010. Alpha began at Holy Trinity Brompton
in central London,
in the late 1970s, and thousands of churches around the world have used
Alpha for parishioners to learn more about Jesus and their faith, as
well as using this tool to bring new friends to Christ. We will
be talking about lots of great topics - here is a small sample:
Who is Jesus?
Why and how do I
pray?
How does God guide us?
More information will be coming soon - reserve your
Sunday evening for this great learning and fellowship time!
For more information, contact Paige Hanks at

Summer in the
City (SITC) - July 18-23
SITC is an urban ministry
experience sponsored by the Diocese of Dallas. It is based at St.
Matthew's Cathedral. Students and sponsors are housed on the
cathedral campus. They serve the children who attend the Bishop's
Camp at the Cathedral and are involved in other ministries such as the
Food Bank, the community garden and food program at Our Saviour Church, and the Austin Street
Shelter. All our participants from last summer rave about their
experience at SITC. If
you would like to attend or chaperone, contact Mother Kathy this week.
Emerson
Scholarship Fund
The Emerson Fund was established in 2001 to provide funds for
parishioners of St. Peters
to attend college. This opportunity is open to both high
school graduates and students currently attending college. The
money may only be used for tuition and books. To make a
request, see Sharon Childers in the church office for an application
form. Applications must be completed and returned to the church
of not later than July 31, 2010.
