The prophet Isaiah compares the Lord to a vineyard owner and us to the grapes. The question is--what kind of grapes are we? Are we sour grapes, useless to the Lord, or sweet grapes from which he might produce a nice, crisp Riesling?
Isaiah explains that sweet grapes are the people who hear the cries of the oppressed, the cries of people in need. The Lord is harvesting some mighty fine grapes from St. Peter's. We heard the cries of the people suffering great loss from the fires in Bastrop and we gave generously. We heard the cries of families with special needs children and teens, and we started 2X2. We heard the cries of children at Burke's Elementary and we stepped up as mentors, PE helpers, and collectors of gently used sneakers (read about that below!)
The Lord is turning us into fine wine - and He wants to produce more wine! What cries of suffering do you hear? How might you respond? How might the St. Peter's community help you respond to those cries?
