What We Believe
The Episcopal Church
St. Peter’s is part of the Episcopal Church, a Christian community that is a part of the Anglican tradition. Our worship is shaped by the Book of Common Prayer, which connects us to centuries of prayer and practice while remaining open to the needs of today’s world. We hold scripture, tradition, and reason together as sources of faith, believing that God’s truth is revealed through all three. We use the historic creeds as the primary statements of our faith. The Episcopal Church emphasizes God’s grace made known in Jesus Christ. We believe that we are called to follow him in lives of love, service, growth, and peace. At the heart of our life together is the Holy Eucharist, where all are welcome at God’s altar. Click here to learn more.
Our History
Founded in 1876, St. Peter’s has been a spiritual home in McKinney for nearly 150 years. Our first members gathered in a small wooden chapel, and over time the congregation grew into the thriving parish you see today. Through generations of change, St. Peter’s has remained dedicated to worship, fellowship, and service to our neighbors. We have weathered challenges, celebrated milestones, and consistently sought to share the love of Christ with our city and beyond. As one of McKinney’s oldest congregations, our history is both a legacy we honor and a foundation for the ministry that continues today. Click here to learn more.
Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is simple: We exist to worship Christ and freely share God’s grace.
We believe that God is building a culture at St. Peter’s of spiritual growth and authentic relationships—among generations, across differences, and beyond our doors.
This vision guides us as we grow in faith together, welcome all who seek a place of belonging, and serve our community in Christ’s name.
