Where We Are Now

  • June 27, 2018
  • The Rev. Perry E. Mullins

I write today with some exciting updates for the Shaping Our Future project!

We are very quickly coming to the moment when you will be able to see things physically taking shape on our campus. Here are a few updates…

Capital Improvement Fund

  • On Nov. 13, 2017 we retired our existing debt from the last renovation! Yay!
  • The Vestry is considering making necessary improvements to the office structure.

Pipe Organ

  • The Organ Committee reviewed proposals and recommended Garland Pipe Organs, a reputable organ firm.
  • The Vestry signed a contract with Garland on May 20, 2018.
  • They have begun voicing the new pipework already! See the pictures below.

  • The organ will be the last project finished–they take a long time to build!
  • Delivery of a new, customized instrument is expected in early 2020.
  • Our current organ will remain usable until the installation of the new instrument.

Facility & Kitchen Renovation

  • The Facility Committee interviewed design firms and has made a recommendation.
  • The Vestry signed a contract this past week with Brown, Brown & Associates Architects for the design work needed.
  • BBA-A works with mostly churches and has a great track record in the area.
  • Designs will begin in July and will take approximately 14 weeks to complete.
  • Construction will follow at a time designated by the Vestry in the fall or early spring.
  • During construction, we will ensure minimal disruption to normal programing.

Columbarium Garden

  • The Columbarium Committee worked with Texas Oasis to create a wonderful plan for a garden space adjacent to the Columbarium.
  • They are awaiting the construction phase to address the plan with a General Contractor.

At this exciting juncture, communication is incredibly important–I want to be sure that everyone knows what is happening and when. To that end, I have created this new blog on our website that I will be updating regularly. I will post photos and milestones for us to celebrate. And if you have questions, I’m always happy to visit over a cup of coffee!

We expect that temporary construction financing will be in place with Independent Bank next week, ensuring that we are able to move forward quickly with the projects while we all fulfill our pledges through the next two years.

I am so excited to see these ideas finally come to fruition! These projects will help us to be who we already are with new energy–a home to anyone seeking the knowledge and love of God, and they will help us welcome people to our family in the name of Christ.

This is truly an amazing time to call St. Peter’s home!
